Patient Services Representative

Our fast-paced Ophthalmology and Dermatology practice is looking to fill a full-time permanent position. This position requires outstanding people, computer, communication, and telephone skills. The ideal candidate must be organized, energetic, and have the ability to multi-task.

Essential Duties

  • Answer telephone calls in a timely manner, take messages (forwarding in a timely fashion)
  • Greet patients and visitors in a positive and professional manner, maintaining patient flow
  • Check-in/out each patient upon arrival and departure for their appointment
  • Administer check-in/out forms, scan documents, explain financial policies, as needed
  • Administer product sales as needed
  • Schedule appointments, enter recalls, collect payments and/or assist with financial matters
  • Update patient demographics accurately in our practice management system
  • Create growth through outstanding knowledge of services and product
  • Follow-up with patients about their experience after their appointment
  • Answer and direct communication efficiently from patients and providers via phone, email and/or through our EMR systems
  • Remind patients of upcoming and follow-up appointments
  • Maintain in-bound and out-bound patient referrals, monitoring and assisting our referral department as needed
  • Confirm and obtain insurance benefits and authorizations prior to services being rendered
  • Maintain a positive attitude and friendly, outgoing demeanor
  • Identify patient needs and respond appropriately
  • Confirm and pull patient charts identifying the individual account needs. Ideally, appointments should be pulled-out at least two weeks in advance always
  • Verify credits or balances and whether patients are on a payment plan
  • Cultivate a warm, inviting environment not only for our patients but also for fellow co-workers
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure a positive patient experience
  • Maintain a professional appearance always
  • Assist with contact lens distribution
  • Secures patient information and maintain patient confidence by safeguarding medical records and keeping patient information confidential per HIPAA guidelines
  • Copy, scan, and file all pertinent patient information

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Prior medical office experience preferred

Additional Responsibilities

Provide office and clinical support for the delivery of optimal patient care.
