Blepharoplasty

Blepharoplasty

Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) represents one of the most delicate cosmetic and functional procedures involving the face. Designed to restore a more youthful appearance to the eyes, it has been transformative for many Cascade Plastic Surgery patients.

Blepharoplasty has a high success rate for improving the following concerns:
• Loose, sagging or folded skin around the upper eyelid
• Bags, excess skin, fatty deposits and fine wrinkles under the eyes
• Drooping lower eyelids

Your consultation

At your initial eyelid surgery consultation with your surgeon, you’ll be able to discuss your goals and expectations, and address any questions or concerns that you may have about the procedure. Your surgeon will then guide you through the process of determining what specific areas need to be addressed, which eyelids to operate on and if skin and fat will be removed. He or she will also review your complete medical history and you will be informed of any risks or limitations of the surgery.  View our blepharoplasty before and after photo gallery here:

Understanding your blepharoplasty surgery

As with all facial surgery performed at Cascade Plastic Surgery, blepharoplasty requires a customized approach. Our surgeons expertly identify each patient’s unique problems, and then individualize the surgical plan to achieve the desired results.

Upper eyelid blepharoplasty:
During an upper "bleph" procedure, your surgeon will create incisions along the natural lines and creases of your eyelids, this technique is performed in order to minimize the appearance of scarring. After the incisions are made, your surgeon will remove excess skin and fat and then use fine sutures to close the incisions.

Lower eyelid blepharoplasty:
A lower "bleph" is often performed to address what are commonly referred to as "eyelid bags."  For Cascade Plastic Surgery patients that are seeking under eye improvement, lower eyelid blepharoplasties can be done through incisions along the inside of the eyelid, outside of the eyelid and a combination of both. The procedure is tailored to each individual patient.

The final result of an eye lift is a rested, more youthful appearance with a noticeable reduction in excess skin and bags around the eye. Individual results vary according to each individual’s age, skin type, healing ability, and other factors, but most Cascade Plastic Surgery patients experience a dramatic improvement in the appearance of the skin around the eyes.

Recovery

There is very little pain following eyelid surgery. Your surgeon will provide you with detailed post care instructions. Most Cascade Plastic Surgery patients feel ready to return to work in 7-10 days depending on their individual level of bruising. By then, you’ll likely be cleared to wear makeup to hide any remaining bruising. Contact lenses must not be worn for about two weeks after eye lid surgery and exercise can be resumed after several weeks. Your progress will be closely monitored by your surgeon in the days following your surgery.
