Licensed Optician (LDO)

Essential Duties

  • Retrieve and check in Jorgenson jobs from lock box
  • Call patients for frame pick-ups
  • Assist patients with all optical concerns
  • Assist bookkeeping department with all concerns
  • Order frames for inventory
  • Supply management – remove frames from inventory as needed
  • Communicate with optical vendors for New P.O.P. and lens/frame release updates
  • Verify orders for patient updates to include but not limited to VSP One, DSHS, & Jorgenson
  • Assist patients in the optical shop with product recommendations, etc.
  • Maintain clear verbal communication with staff and patients
  • Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision
  • Interact professionally with other employees, supervisors, patients, and providers
  • Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments
  • Manage patient phone calls within your scope of practice and forward messages as needed to providers
  • Serve and protect the optical practice by adhering to professional standards, policies, and procedures, including all aspects of HIPAA regulations

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Proof of completion of 6000 hours Optician Apprentice program

Licensing/Certification

  • Employee must be eligible for registration with the Washington State Department of Health
  • Optician license required for this position
