Blepharoplasty is a procedure to remove excess skin, fat or muscle from the upper or lower eyelids. This eyelid surgery corrects drooping upper lids, which can impair vision, and puffy bags below the eyes, both which often cause you to look older and more tired than you actually feel.
The best candidates for this procedure are over the age of 35, physically healthy and realistic in their expectations.
This procedure is normally performed with IV sedation and local anesthesia in our Ambulatory Surgery Center. Patients typically return home within thirty minutes of their procedure.
After the procedure, patients will experience bruising and swelling. Sutures will be removed after one week. Normal activities can be resumed a few days after and strenuous activities such as lifting, bending or exercise can be resumed after about one to two weeks.
