The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is a life-changing event that gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. At Relay, teams of people camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Because cancer never sleeps, Relays are overnight events up to 24 hours in length. Although every Relay For Life is different, there are certain traditions at all Relays, no matter where they are held. No matter where you are, there’s a place for you at Relay and you can make a difference today by donating tools and supplies, even a case of drinking water or some snacks may help, signing up online to start your own team, or by simply making a monetary donation payable to American Cancer Society ref. 2010 Relay for Life of Puyallup, WA.

Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States, with more than one million skin cancers diagnosed every year. People with the highest risk for melanoma include those with a high number of moles, with light colored hair, skin and eyes, those who tan with difficulty and burn in the sun and those with a history of skin cancer in two or more family members. A person’s risk for skin cancer doubles if they have had five or more sunburns. Occasional use of tanning beds almost triples the chance of developing melanoma.
Skin Cancer Prevention Tips:
* Use a broad spectrum sunscreen, which filters both UVA and UVB rays.
* Avoid the midday sun (from mid-morning to late afternoon) whenever you can.
* Wear long sleeves and long pants of tightly woven fabrics, a hat with a wide brim and sunglasses tha absorb UV.
* Stay away from sunlamps and tanning booths!
* If you have a suspicious mole, see a dermatologist!
This oscillating brush is designed to remove dirt and oil that can cause clogged pores. Just one minute of sonic cleansing twice a day, leaves skin feeling and looking smoother, softer and healthier. After cleansing with the Clarisonic™, your skin will be more receptive to skin care products such as moisturizers, serums and lotions!
There are many factors that contribute to dull or tired, broken out skin. They include lack of sleep, excessive sun exposure, hormonal fluctuations, smoking and excessive alcohol consumption. Environmental factors can also increase the likelihood of break outs and dull skin.

We are pleased to introduce the newest addition to our cosmetic center: Fraxel re:pair laser.
Built by the same company that pioneered non-ablative (outer barrier of skin is left intact) fractional laser treatment (Fraxel re:store), the Fraxel re:pair laser is an entirely new laser device, combining the efficacy of ablative (outer barrier of skin is broken) procedures with the safety of a fractionated treatment modality. Clinical results are dramatic – removal of lax tissue produces overall skin tightening without significant pain, recovery time or adverse reactions typically seen with conventional CO2 laser devices.
During treatment, skin is ablated in microscopic treatment zones (MTZ) leaving a significant amount of surrounding tissue untreated. This precise tissue targeting and deliberate tissue sparing provides a significant advantage in wound healing, with dramatically reduced healing time and less post-operative wound care.
The Fraxel re:pair laser provides deep dermal ablation that is effective on most skin types. It is ideal for patients with severe sun damage, sagging skin, moderate or severe wrinkling and melasma, not only because it provides results comparable to the gold standard fully ablative CO2 laser, but also because its single treatment and short downtime are appealing to busy patients. The advantages of the Fraxel re:pair are:
· Overall improvements of wrinkles, furrows, fine lines, textural irregularities, pigmented lesions and vascular irregularities
· An alternative approach to blepharoplasty procedures without the need for surgery
· Microscopic face lift – volumetric reduction of facial tissue leads to natural physical skin tightening without surgery
· Minimized clinical downtime – as fast as 48 hours for skin surface to heal and seal off with new skin
· Minimized social downtime – as little as 5 days for patients to resume regular activity
· Reduced risk of complications/scarring – faster healing time results in minimal complications, especially delayed hypopigmentation (skin lightening) commonly seen with conventional CO2 laser devices
Because the laser beam penetrates into deep skin layer, you will experience some redness and swelling, oozing/bleeding, and peeling. We recommend that you schedule some time off work to allow skin to heal; most patients can resume regular activities within 5 days.
Talk to your dermatologist to see if you are a Fraxel re:pair candidate.
